Communications Internship Program

The Office of the Oakland City Auditor is pleased to announce the continuation of its Communications Internship program, which provides public sector communications and media relations experience. Typically,the projects that our Interns undertake vary on a day-to-day basis; they are assigned according to the skills-set that each Intern brings to the Office of the Oakland City Auditor.

The quarterly Communications Internship Program start-dates are posted below the application process.

Requirements and Considerations

From the many applicants who qualify for this internship, the Oakland City Auditor will select highly qualified individuals who wish to take on the challenges of civil service by actively participating as a Communications team member.

All interested applicants must be willing to commit to the following conditions and requirements for consideration:

  • Be available to work for a minimum of 10 hours a week;
  • Be able to commit to a full quarter (3 months) of work;
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Power Point);
  • Have completed a bachelors degree (or be a current student- community colleges applicable);
  • Be able to provide a writing sample, or samples;
  • Be familiar with Adobe Creative Suite;
  • Be willing to sign a confidentiality agreement;
  • Be able to provide a minimum of 3 professional references; and
  • Acknowledge this is an unpaid, volunteer position.
